Skydiving San Francisco
Due to the proximity of SFO and air space restrictions there are no Sky Diving Centers in San Francisco. The closes place to go skydiving near San Francisco is an hour and a half drive south to Santa Cruz. For those not wanting to make the 3 hour round trip drive for jump which lasts an average of 5 minutes you may want to consider paragliding as an alternative! Tandem paragliding is very similar to skydiving but lasts longer, is safer and is closer to SF. Below is a comparison between the two experiences.
30 to 40 minutes. We actually don’t put a time limit on your flight. We’ll stay in the air with you as long as you like. But the average flight lasts 30 to 40 minutes!
1 minute free fall followed by 2 minute ride under the parachute. 3 to 4 minutes total.
Our flying location is just 10 to 15 minute from of San Francisco.
The closest Skydiving center to San Francisco is 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours drive south of SF in Santa Cruz. A 3 hour round trip.
With paragliding you leave the ground with an already open canopy and spend the next 30 to 40 minutes flying free above one of the most gorgeous landscapes on the planet! Anyone who tried both will tell you paragliding is a much more enjoyable experience. View here for pictures.
One minute free fall which feels like being suspended above a giant google map with a lot of wind blowing in your face followed by a strong jolt when the parachute opens and a 3 minute parachute ride.
There are no age requirements for paragliding. We have taken passengers up as young as 3 years old and as old as 96.
